This image highlights the roof decking and parapets of the new structures and how they relate to the existing building. Seen in the photo right is the west side designed for drainage which has an overhang and soffits which will of course be guttered. The old canales for water drainage on the original roof can be seen leading onto the new roof. The new room which will hold exercise equipment and a possible small office will have sun tunnels installed before the roofing is applied. For these two new roofs, we will be using a rubberized paint plus fabric system which is used quite often in other Southwestern states. It is more popular in Arizona than New Mexico, where we learned how to apply it. We have grown to love it for it’s ease of use and durability. The process is such that rubberized paint is applied, then a fabric is pushed onto the drying paint while another coat applied. One more coat of the rubberized paint, and then a final coat of compatible paint for a final tint makes for a roof that will last for years. Owners simply need add a new coat of paint once wear shows. We use the rubberized paint for many other applications, such as triple protection on any roof penetrations, before and after standard methods are applied. We love the product and use it whenever we need extra water protection on both foundation details and roofing.
