This image shows the installed overhead cabinets and the new engineered antique “barnwood” flooring. The cabinets have been prepped and are ready to receive the stove and overhead stove fan.

The engineered reclaimed antique “barnwood” flooring was added throughout most of the home. We installed it in all main areas of the house – the kitchen, living room and in the bedroom. This brand of flooring is cost efficient and easy to install.

It does not need any sanding or sealing – ready to go just out of the box. Installation of this antique “barnwood” style flooring only involves some minor cutting and often does not include glue – but can be nailed into each other for a firm and durable floor.

We helped the family choose this style given we felt it was in keeping with the rustic tones and style of the old ceiling. As can be seen here the ceiling is made of older one inch planks and good sized vigas. We cleaned them and touched up any stain as needed to keep the look of the older home intact.

The variations of the older wood, above – worked well with the color striations in the new antique “barnwood” style floor – which is a new budget conscious favorite of ours.

We also updated the entry door to the kitchen – the old one was in bad shape. We bought a cost efficient solid wood paneled door and sealed it with linseed oil. Norbert then installed a few small windows to allow some light to filter in.

We were again happy with the overall look to the new kitchen in this old adobe home. Our clients expressed the same feelings to us, which is always nice to hear.
