This image features the barn door entry to man cave from the new exercise room. Norbert created two custom pine barn doors for this project. The doors were given a light hard oil finish which complements the pine tongue and groove ceiling and trim.
As mentioned in prior gallery images the floors are an acid stained cement. We hit them with a wet sander to open up the pours of the cement, and cleaned the floors well before applying the acid stain. This was only our second application of acid staining floors, which seems to be popular with families at the moment.
As also mentioned this floor has in-floor radiant heating which is run from an electric hot water heater stored in the new garage. We most often install solar hot water panels but now and again it is not possible to work those into a project design. We have found over the years that cement flooring is a good conductor of in-floor tubing, just slightly better than earthen floors, which are quite good
