Poured mud earthen floor drying. This image features the main earthen floor (also known as poured adobe or simply mud floor) which has been screeded and is drying. In this particular floor we brought in some clay dirt from a nearby source given we didn’t have the best materials onsite. Normally, however we are able to harvest clay/dirt from nearby arroyos, or from the foundation excavation for our floors. Now and again we will stop at the side of the road and harvest a bit of clay, given it is so abundant in our area. When creating these floors locally harvested clay is used, we can truthfully say about 90% of the time.
