Here is a photo of a mosaic shower with multiple tile styles. We were given the challenge to create a master bathroom with deep, rich tones. Ocean blue was the central color we had to work with. The idea was to give the shower stall a slight a “Moroccan” feel with multiple patterned tiles.

We began by using mosaics with five different colors and styles. Carolyn drew up a series of options using the deep blue (with black edge) 6″ x 12″ tiles as the core of each pattern. One of the goals was to bring in some highly patterned “Moroccan” looking elements without breaking the bank. Using the larger tiles for most of the design, then adding tiny mosaics for more pattern seemed to be a logical choice.

For the winning look, two centered stripes were the main design feature to the shower. A bench was designed into the shower and had to be taken into consideration. We also had a “must use” element of the “blue bubble” tiles our client was putting on the bathroom countertop. It sounds a bit complicated, and was a challenge to create, for certain. Given the five tiles we were given to create this shower stall were of differing thicknesses and sizes.

This complex design ended up looking quite interesting. When coupled with the dark ocean blue floor made of pigmented stained cement slab. The same ocean blue was painted on two feature walls. All if it combined gave our friend the deep and colorful look she was hoping to achieve. She has a strong sense of design and eye for putting together decor. When all of her pieces were placed in this master bath, the space became out of the ordinary. With a dash of the exotic thrown in.
