A dark brown finished plaster and other nice details are shown here. The finished plaster coat was acrylic based Stowe. We find acrylic based to be more durable than cement stuccos. We have found there to be less cracking when using this product as it holds up well over time. Brown is a color choice not many families venture beyond the Santa Fe orange tones we often see.
The copper colored metal roofing (drip edge seen here) contrasted against the dark brown plaster is a nice combination. We tinted the soffits dark brown to match the stains used throughout the entire project – a custom walnut-toned stain. Teal metal clad windows carry the color choices used inside to the exterior. And the five panel glass window front door is a minimalist look that was carried throughout the house as well. We especially also like the simple design of the exterior tube lights seen here.
This house had a very simple design as planned, with a simple shed roof to provide optimal water catchment. By keeping the exterior simple, we were able to add custom touches and not break the bank with the budget. We always encourage families to put their funds into good use. That might mean simplifying certain aspects of any project In this case, the client opted for a simple foot print for the house, to allow for some decorative details inside.
