Shown here is barn door hardware being attached to the custom door Norbert is creating. Both the Man Cave and door which covers an old mechanical room turned closed will receive barn doors. These will be the second and third barn doors we have installed this year as they seem to be a popular contemporary trend. They certainly do save space and have quite a variety of options in both hardware and design.
White pine panels are used and will be attached in and opposing pattern front to back to create ultra stability. We will simply apply an Eco, no VOC hard oil to seal the panels. The wood will in time gain a golden hue to it as is normal for oils containing traces of linseed oil in them. The black barn door hardware and track system provides a nice contrast to the golden panels of the pine. We opted to minimize the sanding of the boards, simply planing them a bit when needed, in keeping with the overall upscale rustic look to the man cave and exercise room.
