Featured here is an alternative view of the turquoise acid-stained floor. This particular light shows the brightness of the stain and the overall beauty. We could not resist featuring another example of how nice this floor turned out.
It had not been until a few years ago we had ever acid – stained a cement floor or slab. We have come to appreciate the process. Watching the stain respond to the trowel marks in a cement slab always gives varied results. And is fun to watch as it unfolds.
The colors chosen in prior projects tended to lean in the gold and bronze areas, so working with this light blue was a treat. One of our projects did call for us to use a water based pigment to stain a cement slab rather than an acid stain. We found the application was trickier to apply and the water based pigment did not hold up over time to strong wear and tear (we found at least on our particular project. It might not be true for others). Even with a manufactured suggested sealant applied. Something to consider when choosing how to finish a cement slab floor.
