As living in Arizona encourages much time out-of-doors, this small flagstone patio is a few steps outside the living room in the front of the house. It is one of the many outdoor sitting spaces we helped create while we were working to execute the landscaping on this adobe house we built. The view here is a prefect one of one of the major red rock formations which can be seen clearly given this house sits on a bit of a perch and had an unobstructed view.
This adobe block house in Sedona, Arizona is one of our favorites. Sentimentally, it is the first project where we teamed up to build a home. That, in combination with the dream clients and getting to build in this beautiful (and a bit hot) place, made it a memorable one.
Also seen in this photo is the graphic symbol (we have read, of fertility?) the owners wanted painted upon the plaster. We were happy to pass this onto one of our helpers and guided him on how to prepare and use a lime putty wash to create the fresco.
All new construction in this county is required to have proper landscaping in place before final sign off will be given. A design for this small plot was created by a landscape architect. Our friends thought we might like the challenge of this project of creating the landscaping and asked us would we be game? We love making exteriors to homes interesting (especially when we have worked long and hard on the inside).
