The walls were plastered in a white lime plaster, no pigment added to keep the tones bright. Unsealed cement floors in all of the rooms have radiant in-floor heating.
The homeowner wanted to allow the wear and tear to show over time. So we were asked to not seal the floors – a standard practice for us. It was understood that any stains or imperfections would occur over time. It makes us nervous to not provide any sealants for our floors- but honored the request to leave the floor raw.
We always seal our floors with eco-sealants which are low VOC or water based to extend and protect them over time. And over the years we have had success acid staining a few floors in a variety of colors.
