This image features the lime plaster and track lighting in the open plan living room. An elaborate design of track lighting was created for the entire house to provide many lighting options.
The contrast between the grey troweled cement floor and the white lime plastered walls can be seen in this image. The floors were left unsealed, as requested (we do not recommend doing so for long term wear and tear).
We slake our own lime for a minimum of 3 months, longer if we are able. And sometimes use a combination of shifted masonry sand with some silica sand added for a finer look. This formula did not have an added silica sand in the final mix.
Norbert created a silica sand and masonry lime blend which was used in the straw bale project we were asked to work on in Golden, Colorado. The result was a luxurious lime plaster – which honestly took us some time to adjust to when applying. The silica sand changed the drying time as well as the application method. We and the clients were both happy with the new plaster.
