The earthen plaster bamboo floor combination in the bedroom upstairs in this straw bale hybrid home helps it maintain it’s light by way of partial walls and large south facing windows. The tan earthen plaster clay was harvested a half mile from the land, and the doors were recycled and then refinished. The wooden planks and window sill details were hand-milled from standing dead white pine on the land. The bamboo flooring was chosen to complement the light t&g ceiling as the desired effect was to create asĀ light and airy a room as possible. With the floor length row of windows facing out from the bed view, it creates a lovely sleeping environment.
