Screeding the top coat earthen floor. Shown here we are laying the top coat of the earthen floor onto the sub floor which was laid and holds the in-floor radiant floor heat. This 1/2″ top coat is relatively easy to pour compared to the deeper and coarser coat underneath. It will set up and then be hard troweled for a slightly polished finish, depending on what is desired for the final look.

Now and again following the application of this top coat we have applied a colored or tinted aliz (often spelled alis) which gives a unique finish such in this link from prior projects of ours-http://earthentouchbuilders.com/gallery-items/midnight-blue-earthen-floor/ .

It is an easy way to incorporate color and variation into an earthen floor.
