Copper colored metal roofing is being put into place in this image. This project is our first applying this particular copper colored metal. We use metal roofing for many of our projects as you can imagine in the desert with the high UV rays, it is one of the few methods which can hold up over many years. We have a wonderful vendor (see our Resources page) in southern Colorado who has always provided superb pricing and has given us a perfect product each and every time in the many years we have worked with the family owned business.
The combination of copper and the dark brown plaster tones seen in other gallery images created a nice color combination for the house, some that are not often used in our area. Seen here in photo left is the large custom gutter Norbert designed and created with the help of our roofing supplier – which will serve the roof water catchment system well. The only source of water for this home, given it does not have a well.
In other images here you will see the partial in ground water tanks and filtration system we designed and executed. The system often can collect up to 900 gallons in one single rainstorm which in minutes can partially fill one of the 3000 gallon tanks, in the three tank – 9000 gallon capacity system. We always encourage families to consider some form of water catchment in the every changing climate when especially in our area water is becoming more and more precious. Code requirements are such that every home need have a few 50 gallon tanks placed at gutters, but when communities will allow it (they should, all) we suggest families consider going much beyond what the officials require.
